Emma Willis Dominates Saturday Night TV with Dual Hosting Duties

Emma Willis commanded a significant portion of Saturday night television this past weekend, appearing on both BBC One and ITV for nearly four consecutive hours. The presenter hosted the second live show of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One from 6:15 p.m. to 8:50 p.m., alongside co-hosts Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe. Immediately following the BBC broadcast, viewers could switch to ITV to watch Willis host The Voice, which aired from 8:50 p.m. to 10:05 p.m.

While this staggered schedule avoids direct competition between the two shows, it effectively means Willis was the primary face of entertainment for a large part of the evening. Strictly is broadcast live on Saturdays, with its results show airing on Sundays. Willis filmed the current season of The Voice last year. This dual-screen presence is expected to be a one-time occurrence, as Willis has stepped down from The Voice, with Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon taking over her role. However, if Willis continues her hosting duties on Strictly, she could potentially face her former show next year if its schedule shifts.

Last week, Strictly saw a dip in viewership for its premiere, with 5.049 million tuning in compared to 6.2 million the previous year. This Saturday's episode, while still down by a million viewers from last year, saw a slight increase from the previous week, drawing 5.1 million viewers for its film-themed installment. A spokesperson for Strictly noted that the movie-themed show achieved a peak viewership of 5.6 million, making it the most-watched program of the night.
