Emma Thompson Films Apple TV Thriller in Gritty London Setting
Oscar winner Emma Thompson was spotted filming scenes for the second series of Apple TV's "Down Cemetery Road" along Regent's Canal in London, portraying a private investigator.
Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson has traded the refined settings of period dramas for a more rugged environment as she films the second series of Apple TV's thriller "Down Cemetery Road." The 67-year-old actress was seen on location along Regent's Canal in London, taking on the role of private investigator Zoe Boehm.
During filming, Thompson was pictured in a black leather coat, grey T-shirt, jeans, and heavy boots, engaging in action sequences that included hiding beneath an overturned kayak and clinging to the canal's edge. The scenes appeared to depict her character evading an assailant.
Thompson's stunt double, attired in an identical outfit and wig, was also present, assisting the actress. The filming took place on the canal towpath, with crew members present to facilitate the shoot.
The first series of "Down Cemetery Road," based on the work of author Mick Herron, premiered in October of the previous year. The inaugural season followed Boehm and art conservator Sarah Trafford, played by Ruth Wilson, as they investigated the disappearance of a young girl following an explosion in Oxford.
The upcoming second series will adapt Herron's novels "The Last Voice You Hear" and "Smoke And Whispers." The plot is set to involve a woman falling in front of a train, with Boehm investigating. The narrative will further explore the black market for art and antiquities, and introduce a serial killer.
Apple recently announced new additions to the cast for the second series, including Martin Clunes of "Doc Martin" and Amanda Abbington from "Sherlock."
