Emma Roberts acknowledged that her wedding dress was unconventional, but stated she has "no regrets" about her choice to marry Cody John in a custom Monique Lhuillier gown. The actress described her wedding attire as "weird" during a recent appearance on Kate and Oliver Hudson's "Sibling Revelry" podcast.
Roberts, 35, explained that the inspiration for the dress was "vintage, lace, form fitting." She further elaborated on her aesthetic vision, stating, "I wanted to look like a haunted doll." To achieve this effect, the dress was dipped in tea, giving it a "ghostly" appearance, a detail she found unusual but personally loved.
The "American Horror Story" star wore the off-white, silk chiffon gown for her nuptials. She later changed into a black strapless Chantilly lace corset and tea-length skirt for the after-party, which she described to Vogue as having a "boudoir saloon" theme.
Roberts shared that her wedding, held in the backyard of John's family home in Sun Valley, Idaho, was a joyous occasion. "We put up a tent and had the time of our lives," she recalled. Despite potential wedding day dramas, she found the event to be "one of the best nights of my whole life."
The guest list for the approximately 200-person wedding was not strictly managed, with Roberts allowing for last-minute additions. Her 5-year-old son, Rhodes, whom she shares with ex Garrett Hedlund, walked her down the aisle. Roberts described this moment as "cute and so sweet."
