Emma Heming Willis shared an emotional message in support of her husband, Bruce Willis, to mark World FTD Awareness Week. Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023, following an initial diagnosis of aphasia in 2022.
"I can’t go through World FTD Awareness Week without talking about Bruce. He is the driving force behind my advocacy," Heming Willis stated in an Instagram post. "He has opened so many doors for me in this work, and I will continue to walk through them. I will not let his diagnosis be in vain."
She added that she believes Willis would be proud to know he is helping families affected by FTD and other forms of dementia, as well as their care partners, to feel seen and heard. "In this next chapter of his life, Bruce continues to build on his legacy," Heming Willis said. "He is, and always will be, a fucking legend. And I am so proud to be his wife."
Heming Willis has been open about her experience as Willis's caregiver. Last year, she published a book, "The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path," detailing their life together during this period.
