Emma Heming Willis has spoken openly about the daily emotional toll of caring for her husband, actor Bruce Willis, as he battles frontotemporal dementia. In a recent interview with Hello!, Heming Willis described guilt as something she continues to struggle with.

"When you are a care partner and you have to navigate a situation like this, it's practically impossible not to feel guilty," she stated. However, she added that she has learned "not to allow that feeling to consume me, because it's a huge waste of time and energy."

The couple's daughters, Mabel Ray, 14, and Evelyn Penn, 12, have witnessed the difficulties firsthand. "My daughters have seen me be strong, of course, but they've also seen me broken on the floor," Heming Willis admitted. She emphasized that her children are aware she is doing her best and that she is learning to manage the situation in real time.

Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023. Heming Willis released a book last year, "The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path," detailing their experience.

In January, Heming Willis shared on the "Conversations With Cam" podcast that she visits her husband frequently, and their children join them for dinner several times a week. She also has breakfast with Willis.

Heming Willis addressed the challenge of being honest with their children about the situation without diminishing their childhood.

"It's a really delicate balance to strike. Guiding them through something like this – through any serious illness, really – is an enormous challenge," she explained. Despite the hardships, she focuses on the positive, noting that "it could be so much worse."

She believes that what their daughters witness daily is "a masterclass in pure love," observing how family and friends rally around Willis. "I think there's something genuinely beautiful about them growing up with that sense of unity," Heming Willis said. "Yes, it's heartbreakingly hard, but my daughters are learning the true meaning of loyalty, devotion and unconditional love."

Willis also has three daughters from his marriage to Demi Moore: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. Heming Willis noted that they are part of the support network surrounding the actor.

Recently, Willis appeared in a photograph with his youngest daughter Tallulah at her wedding, sharing an embrace with her. The image was shared by Vogue.
