Travelers seeking enhanced comfort on flights now have more options with airlines increasingly investing in premium economy cabins. These seats aim to bridge the gap between basic economy and the high cost of business or first class, offering improved amenities and more space.

Emirates, which launched its premium economy seats in 2022, was recognized as the best for Preferred Premium Economy in the Flying Choice Awards 2026. The airline's premium economy offers cream leather seats with adjustable leg rests and headrests, along with fold-out tables for workspace. One passenger described the experience as having a "business-class feel."

Singapore Airlines ranked second in the Flying Choice Awards' premium economy category. The airline emphasizes a "spacious cabin" with seats featuring calf and footrests, designed for relaxation and napping. Passengers can also expect an elevated dining experience with multiple courses and beverage options.

Air New Zealand secured third place in the Flying Choice Awards for its premium economy offering, promising "more personal space" in roomy leather armchairs. The fare includes complimentary meals and drinks, and allows for two carry-on and two checked bags. Long-haul travelers also receive an amenity kit.

Virgin Atlantic was named the world's best premium economy class airline in the World Airline Awards 2025. Their premium seats, available on all long-haul aircraft, come with a complimentary glass of bubbly upon boarding, premium amenity kits, and sleek leather seating.

Scandinavian Airlines' premium economy was highlighted by Conde Nast Traveller. While seats on short-haul flights within Scandinavia are standard economy, flights to Asia and North America feature wider seats with extra legroom and a two-three-two configuration. These routes offer a three-course menu, drinks, snacks, 12-inch HD screens, and multiple power outlets.

LATAM Airlines' premium economy seats include adjustable headrests, and the airline often leaves the middle seat empty to provide additional space. Passengers on international flights also gain access to select LATAM airport lounges.

Japan Airlines offers what it calls "world-class seats" in its premium economy, featuring partitions for privacy, motorized leg rests, and reclinable seats that do not disturb passengers behind. Entertainment is provided on 16-inch screens.

EVA Air utilizes business class seats in its premium economy, which are arranged in a two-three-two configuration on select aircraft. These seats include privacy panels on the headrests, reading lights, and 15.6-inch entertainment screens.

British Airways' World Traveller Plus cabin offers a separate, quieter space with wider seats and more legroom. Passengers receive complimentary bar service, two meals, a personal entertainment system with noise-cancelling headphones, priority boarding, and an enhanced baggage allowance. Their amenity kits are made from recycled plastic bottles.
