Emily Simms Glad She Was Rejected By The Bachelor's Sam Wood Amid Assault Allegations
Former reality TV contestant Emily Simms stated she is pleased Sam Wood did not choose her on 'The Bachelor Australia,' following his arrest on domestic violence charges.
Emily Simms, a former contestant on 'The Bachelor Australia,' expressed relief that Sam Wood did not select her during the 2015 season, as Wood now faces charges related to domestic violence. Simms, who had a notable clash with Wood on the show, stated her opinion of him has not changed.
Wood was arrested on October 3 and charged with domestic violence-related offenses. He remains in custody after being denied bail. Court documents revealed that his wife, Snezana Markoski, allegedly feared for her life during an incident at their Noosa apartment. A prior, similar incident in Victoria was also mentioned, though no complaint was filed at the time.
Simms recounted her experience on the dating series, where she questioned Wood's behavior and ultimately left the competition. She claimed that Wood's suggestion she struggled with emotional openness was hurtful, especially given she had confided in him about her late brother's mental health issues. Simms also alleged that after her departure from the show, individuals who knew Wood contacted her with information that reinforced her negative perception.
Simms' husband reportedly encountered Wood with his daughters at Noosa Main Beach just hours before the alleged domestic violence incident that led to Wood's arrest. Simms stated her husband saw Wood appearing relaxed with his children during the school holidays. The two men had a prior acquaintance before Simms appeared on 'The Bachelor,' though they were no longer in contact.
During Wood's bail hearing, police alleged that his behavior had been escalating. Wood's legal representative stated that his client denies strangling or assaulting his wife and indicated a potential self-defense claim if the case proceeds to trial. Markoski has reportedly supported the criminal charges against Wood, and court documents presented photographs of alleged injuries. The alleged attack reportedly concluded when one of their children intervened.
