Emilia Fox Open to Dating Apps After Processing Past Relationship
The 'Silent Witness' star is embracing single life and considering a return to online dating after her 2025 separation from Jonathan Stadlen.
Emilia Fox, 52, has stated she is open to finding love again through dating applications, marking a new phase after her separation from former partner Jonathan Stadlen. The actress revealed in January that she and Stadlen, her partner of four years, had quietly separated in 2025. Nearly two years later, Fox is reflecting on her single life and readiness to re-enter the dating scene.
Fox, who shares a 15-year-old daughter, Rose, with actor Jeremy Gilley, indicated her willingness to try dating apps, though she has not used them recently. She explained to Hello! magazine that she had been focused on other aspects of her life, but this had not impacted her happiness. "I wanted to process the last relationship I was in, which was a meaningful relationship," she stated, adding, "I feel that I've been able to do that in a good way and not move into something else."
Earlier this month, Fox mentioned she has "made peace" with her split from TV producer Stadlen. She is currently enjoying time to herself after a period of consecutive relationships throughout her career. Her past relationships include those with chef Marco Pierre White and comedian Vic Reeves. She separated from Jeremy Gilley, Rose's father, when their daughter was two years old.
In the past, Fox has acknowledged a tendency to immerse herself in work to cope with personal life changes. "In my 20s, I went from relationship to work to relationship to work, and didn’t have time for myself," she recalled. She noted that while she enjoyed that period, her current life phase is unfolding differently, which she finds acceptable.
Speaking to The Telegraph about her most recent separation, Fox expressed, "I put my heart and soul into things and want them to work, but I accept that not everything can work. Life is ever-changing, and making peace with that is a good feeling."
In an interview with the Daily Mail Weekend magazine in January, Fox described 2025 as "a year of change" and confirmed their separation. "It’s really sad when relationships finish, and particularly one for which we both had lots of hope," she said.
Fox added that she views life's challenges as formative rather than detrimental. "You can see life’s dents as harmful, or choose to think they make us who we are," she remarked. "So my attitude is that I take all the good things that happened – I have nothing but lovely things to say about Jonathan, and I feel lucky to have been on that path with him – and accept it’s time to look to a different future."
She affirmed that she has not given up on romance, stating, "I would never do that, I wouldn’t be that extreme." However, she emphasized the value of her recent time alone, describing it as "good for me. The last year has been a healing time."
Fox has remained active professionally, filming recent episodes of the long-running series 'Silent Witness,' where she has portrayed Dr. Nikki Alexander since 2004. Additionally, the third series of her crime drama 'Signora Volpe,' in which she plays a former MI6 agent solving murders in the Italian countryside, is set for release.
