Emilia Fox Finds Peace After Split From Jonathan Stadlen
The 'Silent Witness' actress reflects on her separation and embracing time for herself.
Emilia Fox has stated that she has "made peace" with her separation from TV producer Jonathan Stadlen, her partner of four years. The actress, 52, revealed the split in January, noting that it occurred in 2025. Fox shared that she is now taking time for herself after a period of continuous relationships.
Fox has a history of engaging in consecutive relationships and work, a pattern she followed in her twenties. "I went from relationship to work to relationship to work, and didn’t have time for myself," she recalled. "I’m not complaining about it. I had a great time. But this bit of life has turned out differently, and that’s OK."
Reflecting on her most recent breakup with Stadlen, Fox told The Telegraph, "I put my heart and soul into things and want them to work, but I accept that not everything can work. Life is ever-changing, and making peace with that is a good feeling."
In January, speaking to the Daily Mail Weekend magazine, Fox described 2025 as "a year of change." She added, "At the beginning of 2025 we separated. It’s really sad when relationships finish, and particularly one for which we both had lots of hope." She expressed a perspective of viewing life's challenges as formative: "You can see life’s dents as harmful, or choose to think they make us who we are. So my attitude is that I take all the good things that happened – I have nothing but lovely things to say about Jonathan, and I feel lucky to have been on that path with him – and accept it’s time to look to a different future."
Despite her recent experiences, Fox has not ruled out future romance, stating, "I would never do that, I wouldn’t be that extreme." However, she has valued the recent period of solitude. "But I have really appreciated having time to myself, to collect myself, and be on my own. It’s been good for me. The last year has been a healing time."
Fox has been occupied with filming the latest installments of the crime drama series Silent Witness, where she has portrayed Dr. Nikki Alexander since 2004. Additionally, the third series of her crime drama Signora Volpe, in which she plays a former MI6 agent solving murders in Italy, is set to be released soon.
