Em Rusciano has shared accounts of a "traumatic" period working in radio, claiming a former male co-host's treatment of her was "diabolical." The 47-year-old media personality detailed the experience in a series of emotional videos posted to her Instagram Stories.
Rusciano stated that during the time of the alleged mistreatment, she was pregnant and fearful of losing another baby, which added significant stress to the situation. She expressed regret for not recognizing her own worth at the time and for blaming herself for the difficulties she faced.
"I was putting up with a lot thinking it was my fault—all of it. Some of it was, but not all of it," Rusciano said. "I don't know why I continue to protect this person because it was diabolical what he was doing to me."
She acknowledged that she may have exhibited difficult behavior at times, attributing it partly to being an "undiagnosed neurodivergent person" who had experienced a "traumatic pregnancy loss" while working early morning shifts in a stressful environment. Rusciano was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021 and autism in 2022.
Rusciano opted not to name the former colleague, citing fears of what might be said about her. "Everything has been said - I'm a bully, I'm a b***h, I'm impossible to work with, I'm difficult," she stated.
She described feeling scared, unsupported, and told to simply "smile." Rusciano reflected that she has worked hard on herself to grow and understand her past behaviors. "That situation has had a chokehold on me," she said, adding that she felt out of control.
Following the videos, Rusciano shared an email she had sent to her former co-host attempting to resolve issues. The email read: "So, I wanted to ask you to please outline the things that I'm doing to p*** you off, the things that I'm doing to make your experience of the show less, the things I can work on to make it easier to be in a team with me. Because I do want this show to work."
According to Rusciano, the co-host's response to this email was: "I saw you sent me an email. I will not be reading it."
