Elon Musk postponed a live interview on CNBC on Friday just before it was scheduled to begin, leaving reporter Julia Boorstin on air. The interview was expected to cover Tesla, the recent SpaceX initial public offering, and the launch of the company's latest artificial intelligence model, Grok.

"We hope he will give us a new time for this interview. But we’ve just heard that he is postponing," Boorstin stated on the program around noon Eastern Time, the scheduled start of the discussion.

The SpaceX public listing has drawn significant attention on Wall Street. The company's IPO reportedly raised $85.7 billion after underwriters exercised their overallotment option, a move that has been reported to have made Musk the world's first trillionaire. SpaceX, which merged with xAI earlier this year, began trading on June 12 at $150 per share. Analysts from firms including Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, and Goldman Sachs have issued positive ratings on the stock, with some estimating an average increase of 47% from the previous closing price.

Musk's AI venture, xAI, recently unveiled its newest model, Grok 4.5, amidst a series of releases from other artificial intelligence labs. OpenAI released its latest models, GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna, on Thursday. Meta announced its Muse Spark 1.1 model on the same day, focusing on agentic work and coding. Earlier in May, export controls on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models were lifted by the Trump administration, allowing the company to redeploy its offerings.

The New York Post has sought comment from Musk through SpaceX regarding the interview postponement.
