Ellie Goulding Lauded for Condemning Anti-LGBTQ+ Remarks on Fan Page

Singer Ellie Goulding received widespread acclaim for publicly denouncing anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments expressed by one of her fan pages. The fan account had allegedly posted and then deleted a message on X, formerly Twitter, that commented on Goulding's fashion choices and included derogatory remarks about transgender individuals.

The deleted post, according to reports, stated: 'I’m so glad your recent outfits are so feminine - lace, silk. They really highlight your beauty; I prefer them over those ‘trans’ looks aimed at a specific community, and I think you do too - you’ve been looking lovely lately.'

Goulding directly responded to the fan account, writing: 'Girl, no thank you. We don’t tolerate any anti LGBTQ+ in the fandom. I know you are better than this.' Her firm retort quickly trended on X, with many users commending her for taking a stand.

Jeff Benjamin, commenting on the exchange, stated: 'Ellie Goulding called out her own fan that runs an Ellie Goulding News account for being transphobic, reinforced what HER fandom stands for, and pushed back on the fan to know and do better. That's how you do it.'

Other users echoed this sentiment, with one noting, 'This is exactly what a qualified public figure should do. Sticking to your stance is way better than being vague to keep all fans.' Another commenter added that Goulding's public correction served as a 'teachable moment for everyone watching,' contrasting it with artists who might simply block and move on.

India Willoughby, Britain's first transgender national television newsreader, also voiced her approval, saying, 'Yes! Well said Ellie.'

The incident occurred shortly after Goulding posted images of herself in a satin lace minidress. She recently welcomed a daughter with partner Beau Minniear and is also a mother to a son from her previous marriage.
