Ella Langley Tulsa Concert Canceled Due to Security Threat
US country music star Ella Langley canceled a sold-out concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, citing a serious security threat.
US country music star Ella Langley announced the cancellation of her sold-out concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday night, citing a "serious security threat" that jeopardized the safety of fans, venue staff, and her team. The decision was made approximately two hours before the show was scheduled to begin at the 19,000-seat BOK Center.
According to Cpt Richard Meulenberg of the Tulsa Police Department, an individual made a phone call threatening "great harm" at the event, including "shots fired and bombs." Police conducted multiple sweeps of the venue, including utilizing sniffer dogs, but stated they "could not find any threat" and that the event was prepared to proceed. Meulenberg noted that the caller disrupted the event for thousands of Langley fans. Further details about the threat were not immediately available.
Langley apologized to her fans for the cancellation and stated that information regarding ticket refunds would be shared as soon as possible. The BOK Center issued a statement affirming that the safety and well-being of all involved was their top priority and that the show could not proceed after careful consideration. The venue also expressed regret for the disappointment caused to attending fans.
Langley, a 27-year-old artist from Alabama, has achieved significant success in country music. In September, her song "Choosin' Texas" surpassed Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" to become the longest-running number one single in US chart history. Her achievements were further recognized at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May.
