Ella Langley Tulsa Concert Canceled Amid Security Threat Investigation
Tulsa police stated no credible threat was found after an investigation, but the singer and venue cited safety concerns in the decision to cancel.
Country singer Ella Langley's concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, scheduled for Friday night, was canceled due to a "serious security threat," according to a joint statement from the artist and the BOK Center venue. However, the Tulsa Police Department reported that an investigation did not uncover any credible threat.
Authorities conducted initial sweeps of the BOK Center using bomb-detection dogs, which yielded no findings. Later, police received a report of potential harm from gunfire and bombs at the event. A subsequent search also failed to locate any credible threat.
Despite the police finding no credible danger, the decision to cancel the performance was made after consultation with local authorities, the venue, and Langley's security team. "The safety and well-being of everyone is our absolute priority, and after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed," read a statement released Friday. The statement also expressed apologies to fans for the disappointment.
Langley echoed these sentiments in a social media post, emphasizing that the cancellation was not a decision made lightly. "I know how much time, track, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can't tell you how sorry I am," she wrote. "Your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm's way."
Information regarding ticket refunds is expected to be released soon.
The BOK Center stated that the FBI is assisting in the ongoing investigation into the reported threat.
Langley's performance in Tulsa was part of her Dandelion Tour, which launched in May. Her recent hit song, "Choosin' Texas," has achieved a record-breaking 23 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
