Ella Langley Responds to Riley Green's Claims of Taking Credit for Her Success
Country singer Ella Langley has subtly addressed accusations that Riley Green overstated his role in her rise to stardom during an appearance on 'The Voice'.
A rift appears to be forming in the country music scene, with singer Ella Langley reportedly expressing dissatisfaction with remarks made by fellow artist Riley Green. The dispute surfaced when Green, during an appearance on the reality singing competition "The Voice," referred to Langley as an artist he had taken on tour who had since become a "major superstar."
During the show, while attempting to recruit the musical duo Ferryn & Brinkley, Green, 37, stated, "There was a girl that reminded me a lot of y’all. I took her on tour with me. Her name’s Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well." This comment, according to reports, did not sit well with Langley.
Langley, 27, addressed the situation during a recent Instagram Live session. When a fan asked if Green taking credit for her success had bothered her, she responded without naming him directly, stating, "Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn’t love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical." Reports also indicate that Langley subsequently unfollowed Green on social media.
Langley has experienced significant success in recent months. Her song "Choosin' Texas" spent 24 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, a record for a solo female artist, before being surpassed by Taylor Swift's "Patient Zero." She is currently on "The Dandelion Tour."
At the Academy of Country Music Awards, Langley was a prominent recipient, securing five awards, including Female Artist of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. "Choosin' Texas" was honored as Song of the Year and Single of the Year. The song she collaborated on with Green, "Don't Mind If I Do," received the award for Music Event of the Year. Accepting her awards, Langley expressed gratitude to the women in country music, acknowledging their support in her career.
Green and Langley have collaborated on multiple occasions, including the songs "You Look Like You Love Me" and "Don’t Mind If I Do." Langley has also served as an opening act for Green on tour.
