Ella Langley Reacts to Riley Green's 'The Voice' Comments
Singer calls coach's remarks 'typical' after he mentioned her success while recruiting contestants.
Singer Ella Langley has seemingly responded to "The Voice" coach Riley Green after he appeared to take credit for her success while attempting to recruit country duo Ferryn & Brinkley for his team. Green, 37, told the contestants on the Sep. 22 episode that he had previously taken a singer with a similar sound on tour with him.
"There was a girl that reminded me a lot of y’all. I took her on tour with me. Her name’s Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well," Green stated.
Ferryn & Brinkley, sisters Ferryn and Brinkley Wright, ultimately chose Green as their coach for the Battle Rounds. However, Langley, 27, did not seem to appreciate Green's comment.
During an Instagram Live session, a fan asked Langley if Green taking credit for her success rubbed her the wrong way. "Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn’t love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical," Langley replied while preparing for a hair and makeup session.
She also reportedly unfollowed Green on social media, according to Us Weekly.
Langley and Green have a history of collaboration. They released two hit duets in recent years: "you look like you love me" in 2024 and "Don’t Mind If I Do" in 2025. The song "you look like you love me" topped Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, earned double-platinum certification, and won musical event of the year at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards. It also received multiple honors at the 2025 CMA Awards, including single of the year, song of the year, and music video of the year.
Their second collaboration, "Don’t Mind If I Do," was the title track for Green’s third studio album and also topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart, achieving platinum certification. Langley also opened for Green on his Ain't My Last Rodeo tour in 2024 and his Damn Country Music tour in 2025.
Green, known for hits like "There Was This Girl" and "I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died," made his coaching debut on "The Voice" in September alongside Queen Latifah, joining returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine for Season 30.
This incident follows a busy period for Langley, which included the abrupt cancellation of her Oct. 9 concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, due to a "serious security threat," and her addressing online criticism after her song "Choosin’ Texas" broke Mariah Carey’s record for the longest run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
