Country artist Ella Langley has seemingly responded to remarks made by pop singer Doja Cat, who stated she was unfamiliar with Langley and her chart-topping song "Choosin' Texas." Langley posted a series of photos and videos on social media with a caption that appeared to echo Doja Cat's words: "Ella Langley? What is that?"

Earlier this week, Doja Cat was asked about Langley during an appearance on the "Sundae Conversation" podcast. When prompted about whether she was a fan of Langley, Doja Cat responded, "I don't know what that is," and sounded out her name. Despite suggestions from the podcast hosts to listen to Langley's music, Doja Cat indicated a lack of interest, stating, "I really don't just give a f— about country music, and I don't understand what’s so hard to believe about that."

Doja Cat's comments generated mixed reactions online, with some viewers commending her for authenticity and others accusing her of feigning ignorance. During an Instagram Live session, Doja Cat further elaborated on her remarks, asserting that country music does not inspire her and she has "never cared" for the genre, though she acknowledged a Keith Urban song from 2004. She listened to "Choosin' Texas" on the stream, remarking that while "this is not my vibe," the song possesses a "pretty voice," a "catchy melody," and could be a radio hit. She concluded by stating, "I don't like it, but that's fine."

Langley's hit song "Choosin' Texas" has achieved significant chart success, spending 19 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100. This makes it the longest-running No. 1 single by a female country artist in history. In contrast, Doja Cat is a multi-platinum selling artist with billions of streams and a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her song "Kiss Me More" with SZA.
