An elderly man was stabbed on a New York City MTA bus after confronting another passenger who pushed past a pregnant rider. The incident occurred on June 5 around 6:30 p.m. as the bus traveled through the Upper West Side.
The victim, 73-year-old Robert Hunter, was returning from grocery shopping in Harlem when he witnessed a man push by a pregnant woman carrying a baby carriage. Hunter told The Post that he intervened by saying, "You know the lady's pregnant, show her some respect."
Following Hunter's comment, the man and three companions reportedly attacked him. Hunter stated that one individual struck him from behind, and he was subsequently assaulted by three others. The NYPD told sources that a knife was brandished, and Hunter was stabbed in the left shoulder.
He was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital, where he received three stitches and was listed in stable condition. Hunter described the injury as not overly serious but noted his arm was bleeding significantly.
The New York Police Department released photos of two individuals they are seeking in connection with the assault. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or submit tips via their website or X account.
