Baltimore police are searching for six suspects accused of assaulting a 74-year-old man and attempting to rob him in a 7-Eleven parking lot. The incident occurred on July 7, 2026, at approximately 3:46 a.m. in the 2500 block of Liberty Heights Avenue in the city's Northern District.

Surveillance footage released by the Baltimore Police Department shows the group of individuals, all wearing hoodies, attacking the elderly victim. The video depicts the suspects repeatedly knocking the man to the ground and throwing objects at him. At one point, one suspect appears to point what authorities described as an assault rifle, while another brandished a sword.

Authorities confirmed that the victim sustained minor bruising from the assault. Both 7-Eleven and the Baltimore Police Department have been contacted for comment. The investigation into the attempted robbery and assault is ongoing.

This incident occurs as Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott recently reported a decrease in homicides. According to his announcement, the city had recorded 50 homicides so far in 2026, representing the fewest homicides recorded through the first half of any calendar year. The announcement stated that Baltimore has seen a 23.1% decrease in homicides and a 2.5% decrease in non-fatal shootings compared to the same date in the previous year.
