Police were called to a property on Grange Park Avenue in Wilmslow on Saturday after receiving reports of concern for the welfare of the occupants. Officers discovered a 78-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman deceased at the scene.
Authorities stated that they do not believe a third party was involved and are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident. Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the deaths are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Robert Lees acknowledged the potential concern within the local community and reassured residents that a thorough investigation is underway. He confirmed that no other individuals are being sought in relation to the matter and expressed that the thoughts of the investigation team are with the family and loved ones of the deceased.
A local business owner, Nigel Lane, described the couple as individuals who generally kept to themselves. "It's a very sad situation," Lane told The Telegraph. "The reasons why, I don't really know. I know of them but they used to keep themselves to themselves. They lived there a long time but I don't know their names, there's quite a lot of older people on this estate."
The Cheshire Constabulary has stated that its inquiries are continuing.
