Eddie McGuire Out at Channel Nine's "Footy Classified"
Veteran presenter departs mid-week panel show as network announces programming changes.
Channel Nine has removed Eddie McGuire from its sports panel show "Footy Classified," ending his six-year tenure on the Tuesday night program. The network confirmed the cancellation of the Tuesday edition as part of a broader programming shake-up for the 2027 slate.
Despite the departure from "Footy Classified," McGuire will continue to have a role with Nine, hosting coverage of the Melbourne Cup Carnival and other special football events. His media company, JAM TV, will continue to produce the remaining Monday night edition of "Footy Classified," which will feature hosts Sam McClure, Matthew Lloyd, Jimmy Bartel, and Damian Barrett. JAM TV also produces "Footy Furnace" on Nine, a show reportedly set for expansion to fill the void left by the Tuesday "Footy Classified."
"Footy Classified" initially debuted in 2007. McGuire joined the program in 2020, initially hosting a Wednesday night slot that was later moved to Tuesdays.
This change follows McGuire's recent departure from ARN's flagship radio program "The Long Weekend." That show, co-hosted with Karl Stefanovic, was cancelled after only six episodes due to backlash over Stefanovic's controversial podcast interview with far-right activist Tommy Robinson. McGuire continued hosting the ARN Gold Network's "Gold Sport" program with Abbey Gelmi on Fridays and Mondays.
