Ed Matthews, a streamer associated with the 'Manosphere' online community, has been jailed for 12 weeks after attacking an individual he claimed was a pedophile during a sting operation. The sentence was handed down on August 19 at Basildon Magistrates' Court for failing to comply with a community order.
Matthews, 24, had previously been given a community order in June 2024, which included 150 hours of unpaid work and rehabilitation activity days. This order followed his conviction for assault by beating and using threatening and abusive language or behavior likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress. The conviction stemmed from a video he shared of himself assaulting a man he accused of being a pedophile.
In the original live-streamed incident, Matthews confronted the man, reportedly ambushing him and threatening to have him arrested by police if he did not eat an extremely spicy crisp. Matthews then wrestled the man to the ground and restrained him in the video. The individual Matthews was convicted of assaulting is scheduled to stand trial in 2028 for charges related to attempting to meet a child after grooming them.
Matthews, who is known to be a friend of streamer HSTikkyTokky and appeared in Louis Theroux's documentary 'Inside the Manosphere,' has been live-streaming confrontations with individuals accused of predatory behavior alongside a group of self-proclaimed 'hunters.'
Following his sentencing, HSTikkyTokky described Matthews' jail term as "absolutely ridiculous." Matthews himself reportedly claimed in a social media video that he is being held in his cell for 23 hours a day due to his "high profile" status and is "all alone." He also allegedly encouraged his followers to attend his upcoming court date.
Earlier in 2026, Matthews was featured in Louis Theroux's documentary, where he was interviewed in Marbella. During his time with Theroux, Matthews made antisemitic remarks, claiming Jewish people controlled the world with negative intentions. He later questioned if the documentary was a "hit piece" and suggested creating a "hit piece" on Theroux.
