Ed Alonzo, widely recognized for his role as the magician and diner owner Max on the hit 1990s sitcom "Saved by the Bell," has recently reappeared on social media, drawing attention for his transformed appearance.
Alonzo, now 63, portrayed Max on the NBC show from 1989 to 1992, appearing in 21 episodes. The character owned Max's Diner, a popular hangout for the main student characters at Bayside High School. The series starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Dustin Diamond, and Dennis Haskins.

More recently, Alonzo reprised his role as Max in the short-lived "Saved by the Bell" reboot that streamed on Peacock in 2020. Beyond his acting career, Alonzo has a significant background in magic. He worked with Britney Spears to create illusions for her 2009 "The Circus Starring Britney Spears Tour" and was involved with Michael Jackson's "This Is It" concert prior to the singer's death in 2009.

Alonzo's recent social media posts, particularly a selfie shared in May from Anaheim, California, showed him with his signature hair tucked under a hat and without his usual eyeglasses, contributing to his unrecognizable appearance. He still performs magic, having done a show on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as recently as 2026.

Throughout the 1980s and '90s, Alonzo was a frequent television presence with roles on "Head of the Class," "Full House," and "Murphy Brown." He also made guest appearances on "How I Met Your Mother" and "Modern Family."
Alonzo's career in magic has also been recognized with awards, including the Academy of Magical Arts Stage Magician of the Year in 1999 and 2000. He has also worked with other notable performers such as Katy Perry and David Blaine. He has also had a show at Knott's Halloween Haunt called "Ed Alonzo's Psycho Circus of Magic and Mayhem."
Alonzo is married to Bridgette O'Malley Alonzo, and they have one child, Brogan Alonzo.
