Echo Park buzzed with activity Saturday as the Echo Park Rising street festival brought musicians, shoppers, and residents together for its annual celebration. The free, all-ages event, spread across numerous participating venues, transformed the neighborhood into a lively hub of music, art, food, and vintage commerce.
Despite earlier power outages in the region due to a heatwave, the festival proceeded, drawing large crowds to its various attractions. Live bands performed in packed venues, with artists showcasing a range of styles. One performance featured a lead singer commanding the stage alongside a guitarist and drummer, while other stages hosted different musical acts, including a mariachi band.
Beyond the music, attendees browsed through racks of vintage clothing at sidewalk sales, with some offering items for as little as $1. The festival also featured an artisan and vintage market. Local businesses along Sunset Boulevard participated by offering food and drink specials throughout the weekend.
The festival's main events were concentrated around Sunset Boulevard, with 1545 W. Sunset Blvd. serving as a central point. Evening entertainment was scheduled to continue with live bands and DJs at the outdoor Gentlemen's Breakfast Stage at Mohawk and Sunset until 11 p.m. on Saturday.
The event is free and open to all ages, though individual bars within venues may enforce their own age restrictions later in the evening. The festival is scheduled to continue on Sunday.
