EasyJet to Equip Entire Fleet with Starlink Internet by 2027
The budget airline announced a partnership with SpaceX to provide high-speed satellite Wi-Fi across its Airbus fleet.
EasyJet announced Monday it will begin offering Starlink satellite internet service across its entire Airbus fleet starting in 2027. The rollout is expected to be completed by early 2028, making the budget airline the latest carrier to adopt SpaceX's high-speed connectivity solution for passengers.
The initiative will cover EasyJet's A320, A320neo, and A321neo aircraft. This move places EasyJet among an increasing number of airlines integrating Starlink technology, following in the footsteps of carriers like American Airlines, British Airways, and United Airlines, which already offer the service on some of their flights.
While EasyJet did not disclose the financial terms of its agreement with SpaceX, the airline's CEO, Kenton Jarvis, had previously noted the economic challenges associated with providing onboard Wi-Fi. Rival European low-cost carrier Wizz Air also announced a similar partnership with Starlink in June, although Ryanair has previously indicated that integrating Starlink could cost up to $250 million annually.
