EastEnders Actor Shane Richie Receives Six-Month Driving Ban
The television personality admitted to a speeding offense and was fined, while also facing a separate drink-driving charge.
EastEnders actor Shane Richie has been banned from driving for six months after admitting to a speeding offense. The court also ordered the 62-year-old, whose legal name is Shane Roche, to pay a £500 fine and £320 in costs and surcharge.
The driving ban was issued on September 23 by Guildford Magistrates' Court. Richie, known for his role as Alfie Moon in the BBC soap opera, entered a guilty plea in writing for the speeding offense, and his case was handled privately under the Single Justice Procedure.
Richie is concurrently awaiting trial for a separate alleged drink-driving offense that occurred on July 29 in Harlow, Essex. He was reportedly driving a Hyundai IX35 at a petrol station when he allegedly provided a breath sample of 65mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35mcg.
He appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court earlier in September for the drink-driving charge. Richie denies this allegation, and his trial is scheduled for November 17, 2027, at the same court. The actor, who hails from Tadworth in Surrey, also gained public attention when he participated in "I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!" in 2020, finishing in fourth place. His career also includes hosting game shows and performing in pantomimes, with his first appearance on EastEnders dating back to 2002.
