EastEnders star Danny Hatchard has announced his engagement to his longtime partner Kerry Scouler. The actor, who portrayed Lee Carter on the BBC soap opera, is set to marry the model after a six-year relationship that began when Scouler initially contacted him.
Hatchard and Scouler shared the news on Sunday, with Scouler posting photos on her Instagram account from a celebratory trip to Amsterdam. In the images, the couple are seen with champagne, and Scouler displays a diamond engagement ring.
Their relationship began in 2020 after Scouler messaged Hatchard expressing interest. They made their relationship public in December of that year during a holiday in Cyprus. While they have maintained a relatively private relationship, they have shared glimpses of their life together, including a joint social media account for comedy sketches.
Hatchard joined EastEnders approximately 12 years ago as the eldest son of Mick and Linda Carter. His character returned to Albert Square after serving in the British Army. The actor has made intermittent appearances on the show since 2019, with his last credited role as Lee in 2024.
It has been confirmed that Hatchard will reprise his role as Lee Carter for a return to the soap. He described his upcoming storyline as his "most exciting return yet," hinting at "explosive scenes." Actress Maddy Hill, who plays Nancy Carter, is also set to return for a short stint, and Executive Producer Ben Wadey expressed enthusiasm for the reunion of the Carter family members on screen.
