East Yorkshire Council Offers Free Mental Health Support Ahead of World Mental Health Day
The 'Wellbeing for Us' program provides workshops and peer support groups for adults aged 18 and over.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is encouraging residents aged 18 and over to access free mental health and wellbeing support through its 'Wellbeing for Us' program. The initiative aims to help individuals build confidence, foster meaningful social connections, and reduce feelings of isolation.
World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, serves as a backdrop for this increased access to support services. The 'Wellbeing for Us' program offers a range of topics designed to equip participants with coping mechanisms for anxiety and stress, alongside strategies for boosting self-esteem.
The program includes both face-to-face workshops and informal peer support social groups. Workshops are currently being delivered on a rolling basis in various locations across East Yorkshire, including Withernsea, Hornsea, Bridlington, Beverley, Driffield, Pocklington, Goole, and Hessle. Drop-in sessions are also available in Goole and at Lelley Fields Crematorium.
Informal peer support social groups are currently being held in Goole and at Lelley Fields Crematorium, with plans to expand these offerings. The council stated that the program also aims to guide residents toward broader support systems, such as community organizations, NHS referrals, and other health services.
