According to Kay, his conversations with Diana over the years led him to believe she would have supported her brother's decision to write the book. Earl Spencer and Prince Charles last met on July 1, which was Princess Diana's 36th birthday, at the Tate Gallery in London. This meeting was described as unexpected.
