Earl Cave, son of musician Nick Cave, has spoken about the profound impact of his twin brother Arthur's death and his subsequent conversion to Christianity. Arthur Cave died in July 2015 at the age of 15 after falling from a cliff in Brighton, an incident that occurred after he had taken LSD for the first time. A decade later, Earl, now 26, has found solace in his Christian faith, which he believes is intrinsically connected to the trauma of his brother's passing.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Earl highlighted the concepts of forgiveness and the afterlife as particularly appealing aspects of his faith. "I like the idea that this isn’t it," he said. "I wonder whether that’s something intrinsically connected to my trauma. The idea is definitely something that I need to have. It’s comforting. Life doesn’t feel like an endless vacuum of nothing."

Earl noted that while he did not attend church as a child, he has increasingly been drawn to it as an adult, attending services every Sunday. He stated that his inclination to attend stems from a belief in God. "I suppose it's because I believe in God," he explained.

The death of Arthur Cave has significantly influenced the work of his father, Nick Cave. The 2016 album "Skeleton Tree" is widely seen as a raw depiction of grief. Earl's mother, Susie Cave, also channeled her grief into her fashion line, The Vampire's Wife, and has since launched a new brand called Susie Cave Weddings & Funerals.

Tragedy struck the family again in 2022 with the death of Nick Cave's other son, Jethro Lazenby, who was 31. Jethro had battled schizophrenia and drug addiction.

Nick Cave himself has spoken about the deaths of his children, expressing feelings of culpability as a parent. He told The Guardian that while he doesn't feel cursed, he believes it would be disrespectful to Jethro's mother to speak extensively about Jethro publicly, as he did not meet him until he was seven.

An inquest into Arthur's death revealed that the teenager was disoriented after taking LSD and cannabis before he fell from the cliff. Witnesses reported seeing him zig-zagging along the cliff edge before climbing over a safety fence. He was pronounced dead at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The family relocated to Los Angeles shortly after Arthur's death due to the overwhelming reminders of the tragedy in Brighton.

Earl Cave is also pursuing a career in acting, with roles in the indie drama "Sunny Dancer" and the upcoming family drama "Alma." He also has a band named Bell Practice. He has addressed potential accusations of being a "nepo baby," stating that avoiding music due to comparisons with his famous father would render his life without purpose.
