Eagles Trade Cam Jurgens to Ravens Amidst Offensive Line Shakeup
Philadelphia moves Pro Bowl center one day after veteran tackle Lane Johnson announced his retirement.
The Philadelphia Eagles have traded Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens for draft picks, a move that follows the retirement announcement of veteran offensive tackle Lane Johnson.
The Eagles sent Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick. The Ravens are acquiring Jurgens to bolster their offensive line, though he is currently in concussion protocol and is expected to be available around Week 6.
This trade marks the second significant departure from the Eagles' offensive line in as many days. Lane Johnson, a multi-time All-Pro right tackle, announced his retirement on Tuesday. The team's general manager, Howie Roseman, appears to be looking towards the future with these roster moves.
While the Eagles are parting with a proven 27-year-old center, they seem to believe they have the depth to absorb the loss. Drew Kendall has reportedly performed well at center, and with Jurgens' departure, Micah Morris and Willie Lampkin may be called upon to play guard. The team also anticipates the potential return of Landon Dickerson from injured reserve in Week 6, who is currently dealing with a bone bruise in his knee.
For the Ravens, the acquisition of Jurgens addresses immediate needs on their offensive line. The team lost center Tyler Linderbaum in free agency and has faced multiple injuries to other linemen, including Danny Pinter, Jovaughn Gwyn, and Ethan Pocic. With a 3-1 record and leading the AFC North, the Ravens are positioning themselves for a strong season and potential postseason run.
