Eagles Sign Joe Milton Off Cowboys' Practice Squad Amidst Jalen Hurts Injury

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Friday the signing of quarterback Joe Milton, who was taken off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad. This move comes in the wake of a significant injury to the Eagles' starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts.

Milton's addition provides depth for Philadelphia's quarterback room, which now includes Tanner McKee and rookie Cole Payton on the active roster. Hurts was recently ruled out indefinitely due to a superficial blood clot, prompting the Eagles to seek additional quarterback options.

In the 2025 season, Milton appeared in four games for the Cowboys, completing 24 of 183 passing attempts for one touchdown and two interceptions. He gained attention during the preseason in August for a three-touchdown performance against the Cardinals. The Cowboys waived Milton on September 1st, subsequently placing him on their practice squad two days later after naming Sam Howell as the backup.

Tanner McKee is expected to assume the starting role for the Eagles in Hurts's absence.
