Eagles Coach Sirianni Faces Criticism After Late-Game Decision Leads to Loss

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a stunning defeat in London after a late-game decision by head coach Nick Sirianni backfired, allowing the Jacksonville Jaguars to win 19-17.

With just 11 seconds remaining and the Eagles leading 17-16, kicker Jake Elliott successfully converted a field goal. However, instead of kicking the ball out of bounds or deep into the end zone to prevent a return, Elliott kicked it to Jaguars return man Ameer Abdullah. Abdullah managed a significant return, bringing the ball to the Eagles' 39-yard line. This set up a 57-yard field goal attempt for Jaguars kicker Cam Little, who made the kick as time expired.

Following the game, Sirianni took full responsibility for the loss, which dropped the Eagles' season record to 2-3. "I didn't make the right decision, I lost us that game and that's what I said to our guys," Sirianni told reporters. "There's no other way around it, there's nothing really else to say about that, I just didn't do my job in that situation."

Fans and analysts quickly criticized Sirianni's choice, with some calling the blunder a "fireable offense." Social media commentary highlighted the perceived poor situational coaching, with users noting that simply kicking the ball out of bounds would have secured the win for Philadelphia. The Eagles are scheduled to host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday in Philadelphia.
