The Philadelphia Eagles have officially signed veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II to their practice squad, according to NFL Network.
Moore, 31, was released by the Indianapolis Colts earlier this offseason. He spent his entire nine-year NFL career with the Colts, where he was a Pro Bowler in 2021. In his final season with Indianapolis, Moore recorded 55 tackles, 1.5 sacks, six pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
Moore's signing brings valuable experience to the Eagles' secondary. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio plans to utilize Moore's versatility, with expectations that he can contribute at both nickel cornerback and safety. He is reportedly expected to earn a one-year deal worth up to $3 million.
The Eagles' secondary features other versatile players like Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. General manager Howie Roseman has a history of acquiring talented players at a reduced cost, and Moore's addition is seen as another instance of this strategy. The Eagles' defense is undergoing changes under Fangio, making an experienced veteran like Moore a potentially significant addition.
Through the first two games of the season, the Eagles are allowing an average of 21 points per game. While their pass defense has appeared solid against early-season opponents, the team is set to face more challenging offenses as the NFC schedule progresses.
