E-Bike Rider Dies in Collision With Moped; Police Investigating as Murder

The Metropolitan Police have initiated a murder investigation following the death of a 24-year-old e-bike rider in a collision with a moped in Kensington, west London.

Officers were called to North Pole Road at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Friday, September 25, after reports of a man found seriously injured. London Ambulance Service attended the scene, but the cyclist was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Preliminary CCTV inquiries suggest that the collision occurred around 1 a.m. and that the moped had been pursuing the e-bike prior to the incident. Detectives are actively seeking the rider of the moped and are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John stated, "Our thoughts are with the victim's family at what is a very difficult time. We have launched a full investigation and are working hard to get answers and establish exactly what happened."

He added, "Our team are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry, including efforts to identify and trace the rider of the moped. As part of this, we're urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the e-bike or the moped to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
