Actor Dylan Sprayberry, known for his role in MTV's "Teen Wolf," announced on Sunday that he has been a Scientologist for three years, calling the experience "epic."

Sprayberry, 28, shared his journey on Instagram, explaining that his involvement with Scientology began approximately five years ago as he was recovering from substance abuse.

"Earlier on in my sobriety... I was having this feeling where it’s like, ‘OK, I’m sober now. I’m really proud of myself and I do feel the difference of being off of drugs,'" Sprayberry recalled. He also noted that he was still experiencing "tons of anxiety and depression" that he felt were "suppressed."

"It was tough, but I had to confront it. … I had ignored it and numbed myself to it for 10 years," he said.

Finding Scientology

As Sprayberry began searching for solutions, he was introduced to the Church of Scientology. He stated that a primary step in his Scientology practice was the "purification rundown," which he described as a detoxification program designed to remove drugs and toxins from the body.

Sprayberry also credited L. Ron Hubbard's book "The Way to Happiness" with fostering a realization about personal joy. "I had a huge realization... that happiness is not something that I have to get. It’s something that I create within myself," he explained.

He continued, "I’ve been creating my state of being all this time. The whole reason I was depressed and anxious and all that stuff was because I was not being that person who creates happiness for myself."

Sprayberry, who is expecting his first child with his wife, Pruette Karl, expressed that he is currently doing well. "I just wanted to share that with you guys because it’s been such a special experience for me. I’ve gotten to get myself in such a good place in life, and I’m doing genuinely fantastic," he concluded.

The actor, who portrayed Liam Dunbar on "Teen Wolf" from 2014 to 2017, also played a young Clark Kent in the 2013 film "Man of Steel."
