Dylan Dreyer, a host on NBC's "Today" show, has revealed she experienced a painful miscarriage while on vacation and felt compelled to keep it a secret. The incident occurred during a group trip, where Dreyer was trying to conceal her pregnancy from others.

In an episode of her podcast, "Today's The Parent Chat," Dreyer discussed the experience with guests Nick Viall and his wife, Natalie Joy Viall, who has been open about her own struggles with miscarriages. Dreyer recounted pretending not to drink while the miscarriage was happening, feeling intense pain but unable to confide in anyone around her. "I'm like, man, I wish I could share this with someone, and you can't always do that," she said.

Dreyer also shared her experience with secondary infertility, the inability to conceive after having previously given birth. She admitted to being afraid to discuss it, fearing judgment because she already had children. "Everybody's gonna judge me because I already have one child, and there are a lot of people who can't have one child, and here I am, how dare you want a second child," she explained.

She later discovered that scar tissue in her uterus was the cause of her fertility issues. "My uterus was scarred shut," Dreyer stated. "There was a reason why I kept having miscarriages, and I couldn’t have any more kids." After her doctors removed the scar tissue, she was able to conceive two more children.

This is not the first time Dreyer has spoken publicly about her fertility struggles. In 2019, she wrote an essay detailing her journey with secondary infertility, discussing her plans for IVF. However, she discovered she was pregnant naturally shortly before starting the treatment. She questioned why women and their partners have to go through such private and emotional experiences in secrecy.

In addition to her fertility journey, Dreyer has also been open about her divorce from her ex-husband, Brian Fichera. She filed for divorce on March 10, after announcing their separation in July 2025. She explained that they have "reframed our relationship" and are no longer husband and wife, choosing to move forward as friends.

Dreyer emphasized that both she and Fichera will remain involved in their children's lives, noting the importance of a father's presence. "I want their dad in their life. They need that. They need both the dynamic of a mother and a father, and we're providing that to them in the best way possible," she said.
