Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson surprised a group of about 50 schoolchildren from Sudbury, England, with a private screening of the upcoming live-action "Moana" movie. Johnson, who voices the demigod Maui in the animated original and is expected to have a role in the live-action adaptation, was moved by a video the students made attempting to contact him.

In a video message to the students, Johnson stated he was “so moved” and found their attempt to reach him “so cool.” He announced he would find a theater, rent it out, and arrange for them to see the film. He also offered to pay for their sweets and snacks during the outing. He concluded his message by telling the students, "Love you guys, keep doing great in school and, as Maui says, 'You're welcome.'"

The surprise came during the students' school visit to London. A group of schoolchildren wearing red uniforms standing in front of The Rock – a man wearing a cream jumper and white trousers and sunglasses.

The live-action adaptation of Disney's 2016 animated hit "Moana" is scheduled for release in 2026. The original film followed the journey of a strong-willed daughter of a chief who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, she enlists the help of the demigod Maui, whom Johnson voiced. Moana holds an oar and Maui holds his magic fish hook in the Moana Live Action movie poster.

While Johnson's specific role in the live-action film has not been officially detailed, his involvement as Maui, a character he voiced in the animated version, is widely anticipated given his connection to the project and his vocal support for the new iteration.
