Fans of the Yellowstone universe can anticipate more "Dutton Ranch" drama, as Paramount+ has officially renewed the series for a second season. Production is slated to begin in early 2027, and the show will have a new showrunner at the helm.
The renewal comes after a successful first season, which garnered a Certified Fresh 89% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to Paramount+, the series launch was a significant success, attracting 12.9 million viewers globally within the first seven days. The show also delivered 2.9 million total viewers across its two-episode debut on Paramount Network and ranked as the number one cable entertainment telecast among adults 18-49 and total viewers.
"Dutton Ranch has resonated with audiences in a powerful way, building on the legacy of beloved characters, while establishing its own identity," said Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios. "We look forward to bringing fans more stories from these unforgettable characters in Season 2."
While an official release date for "Dutton Ranch" Season 2 has not yet been announced, filming is expected to commence in early 2027. Actress Kelly Reilly, who stars as Beth Dutton, indicated in July that the writers' room would begin work soon, with the intention of writing the season over the next six months. This timeline suggests a potential premiere in 2027.
Benjamin Cavell has joined the series as the new showrunner, taking over after Chad Feehan's departure three weeks before the season premiere. The series was developed to continue the stories of Beth, Rip, and Carter, and Cole Hauser, who plays Rip, remains an executive producer, dispelling rumors of his departure.
For those looking to catch up on the series or rewatch the first season, "Dutton Ranch" is available to stream on Paramount+. The platform offers two subscription tiers: Essential and Premium. Additionally, the series can be accessed on platforms like Hulu and Prime Video through the Paramount+ add-on. New subscribers to these services may be eligible for free trials.
