The first season of the Western drama ‘Dutton Ranch’ has officially concluded, with its ninth and final episode, titled “El Padrino,” airing on July 3. The season finale left viewers with a significant cliffhanger, placing a beloved character in peril and resolving several plot points, including the return of Mariano and the death of a main character.

Fans eager for immediate resolution will have to wait, as no new episode of ‘Dutton Ranch’ aired on July 12. Season 1 consisted of nine episodes, and the season finale has already aired.

Despite the conclusion of the initial season, ‘Dutton Ranch’ has been renewed for a second season. Paramount+ officially announced the renewal on June 24, prior to the airing of episode eight. The series has proven to be a significant success for the streaming platform, marking the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history and garnering substantial viewership numbers upon its initial broadcast on Paramount Network.

“‘Dutton Ranch’ has resonated with audiences in a powerful way, building on the legacy of beloved characters, while establishing its own identity,” said Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios, in a press release. “Thank you to our partners at Paramount+ and 101 Studios for a phenomenal first season. We look forward to bringing fans more stories from these unforgettable characters in Season 2.”

While a specific release date for ‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2 has not yet been announced, filming is anticipated to commence in early 2027. The series will also feature a new showrunner, Benjamin Cavell, who will take over from Chad Feehan. Both Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, stars of the series, have indicated that creator Taylor Sheridan will be involved in the development of the second season.

Potential crossover events with another Yellowstone spin-off, ‘Marshals,’ have also been hinted at, with both season finales setting up scenarios where key characters could be in danger in Texas. Reilly suggested that a reunion between characters Beth and Kayce could be a possibility.

‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 1 is available for streaming on Paramount+. The service offers both an Essential and a Premium subscription plan, with options to add the service to existing Amazon or Hulu accounts, or through various Sling TV packages.
