'Dutton Ranch' Renewed for Season 2, Production Slated for Early 2027
Paramount+ has officially renewed the 'Yellowstone' spin-off, with new episodes expected in 2027 and a new showrunner at the helm.
The popular 'Yellowstone' spin-off, 'Dutton Ranch,' has been officially renewed for a second season by Paramount+.
The series, which stars Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, secured its renewal on June 24, ahead of the broadcast of its eighth episode. The announcement follows a strong performance for the show, which garnered 12.9 million global viewers within its first seven days of release and marked the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history. Its debut on the Paramount Network also drew significant viewership, becoming the biggest series premiere on cable since 2023.
While a specific release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, production is anticipated to begin in early 2027. Kelly Reilly confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that filming is slated to commence early next year, with the writers' room beginning its work considerably sooner. "The room starts up pretty quick. I think we’re going to be very much involved in the room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it," Reilly stated.
This upcoming season will feature a change in showrunner, with Benjamin Cavell taking over. Cavell joined the team for Season 2, succeeding Chad Feehan, who departed the series shortly before its premiere.
Despite rumors of potential departures, Cole Hauser is expected to continue his role as Rip Wheeler. The series was developed to continue the storylines of Beth, Rip, and Carter, and Hauser also serves as an executive producer.
In other 'Yellowstone' universe news, another spin-off, 'Marshals,' starring Luke Grimes, is airing its second season. "Marshals" Season 2, Episode 5 was scheduled to premiere on November 1, 2026, on CBS and stream on Paramount+. Discussions about potential crossover episodes between 'Dutton Ranch' and 'Marshals' have been ongoing, with cast members like Luke Grimes and Ash Santos expressing openness to the idea, citing the established familial connections within the narrative.
Season 1 of 'Dutton Ranch' is available for streaming on Paramount+. The service offers two subscription plans: Essential and Premium. A seven-day free trial of the Premium plan is available. Alternatively, Paramount+ can be accessed via Amazon Prime Video channels with a free trial, and the Paramount Network is included in various live TV streaming packages such as Philo, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, DIRECTV, and Sling TV Sling.
