'Dutton Ranch' Renewed for Season 2, Production Slated for Early 2027

Paramount+ has officially renewed Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" spin-off "Dutton Ranch" for a second season. The series, which concluded its nine-episode first season on July 3, 2026, with the episode "El Padrino," has been greenlit ahead of its next production cycle.

Production for "Dutton Ranch" Season 2 is anticipated to begin in early 2027. "We’re slated to start early 2027 to film," actor Kelly Reilly, who reprises her role as Beth Dutton, told The Hollywood Reporter. "But the room starts up pretty quick. I think we’re going to be very much involved in the writing room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it."

While an official premiere date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, a 2027 release is expected given the projected production timeline. The series' first season garnered critical acclaim, achieving a 90% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Its debut was a significant success for Paramount+, amassing 12.9 million global viewers in its first week and marking the biggest Original Series launch in the platform's history.

"Dutton Ranch" also made a strong impact on cable, delivering 2.9 million total viewers across its initial two-episode premiere on Paramount Network on May 15, 2026, becoming the biggest series premiere on cable since 2023. The premiere episode alone attracted 1.85 million viewers, ranking as the top cable entertainment telecast for both adults 18-49 and total viewers.

Benjamin Cavell has been appointed as the new showrunner for the upcoming season, taking over from Chad Feehan, who departed the series shortly before its premiere. Despite rumors of conflict, Cole Hauser is expected to continue his role as Rip Wheeler, and he also serves as an executive producer on the series.

Fans have also inquired about potential crossover episodes between "Dutton Ranch" and another "Yellowstone" spin-off, "Marshals." While Luke Grimes, who stars in "Marshals" as Kayce Dutton, confirmed that his character will not appear in the upcoming season of "Marshals," he did not rule out the possibility of a future crossover. Grimes has previously expressed openness to such an event, noting the narrative potential given the familial ties between characters like Beth and Kayce.

"Marshals" Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, October 4, 20256, on CBS, with streaming available on Paramount+. Season 1 of "Dutton Ranch" is available for streaming on Paramount+.
