A Dutch drug addiction and mental health institute has issued a "Red Alert" warning about potentially lethal ecstasy pills shaped like the head of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Trimbos Institute reported that several of these pills have recently been submitted to drug-testing centers. The pills are described as having Trump's head depicted on one side, with "NL" and "Trump" stamped on the other. Some pills are green, while others are yellow.

According to the institute, the pills contain a high concentration of para-methoxymethamfetamine (PMMA), a chemical similar to MDMA, the active ingredient in most ecstasy. PMMA is known to have a slower onset of effects than MDMA. This delay could prompt users to take additional pills, believing the first dose is ineffective, thereby increasing the risk of overdose.

The Trimbos Institute stated that the use of these pills can lead to overheating with potentially fatal consequences. As of the warning, the institute had no confirmed cases of serious illness or fatalities where PMMA was identified in a user's blood.

Ecstasy is illegal in the Netherlands but is commonly used, particularly at clubs and music festivals. A 2024 government report indicated that approximately 550,000 people had used the drug in the preceding year.
