A drunk driver who flipped her car outside a pub, narrowly missing a man's head, has been spared jail. Sharon Gall, 32, was caught on camera reversing her red Volkswagen Golf at speed outside the Cock Inn in Bartley Green, Birmingham, on February 17, 2024. The vehicle smashed into another car, causing it to overturn.

Birmingham Crown Court heard the incident occurred after Gall was involved in an altercation outside the pub and asked to leave. Video footage shows a group of people surrounding her car moments before she reversed rapidly. A man standing nearby was sent sprawling into the road as Gall's car flipped, missing his head by inches. The man was not injured.

Police arrested Gall, who is employed, and a blood sample revealed she had 171 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, more than double the legal limit of 80 milligrammes. Another woman was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing.

Gall pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drink-driving. She was sentenced to 15 months in jail, suspended for two years. She received an 18-month driving ban, was ordered to complete 25 days of rehabilitation activity, and must observe a 90-day alcohol abstinence period.
