A domestic violence suspect in California was apprehended Sunday after hiding in a large haystack, with his location revealed by a police drone. The discovery concluded an hours-long manhunt for Adam Armbruster, 29.
Deputies began their search late Saturday following reports of a woman screaming for help. Investigators determined the woman had been assaulted, but Armbruster had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. The search extended through the night, with deputies and K9 teams working to pinpoint the suspect's whereabouts. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team joined the operation Sunday morning.
Investigators focused their search on Armbruster's property and adjacent outbuildings. Around 2 p.m. Sunday, a drone flying over the area detected Armbruster concealed within a substantial haystack inside a barn. Video released by the sheriff's office shows the drone identifying the hiding spot.
Armbruster then emerged from the haystack and surrendered to authorities without incident. He was booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of felony domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon. He was later released after posting bail.
The sheriff's office blurred Armbruster's face in the released video, adhering to California's AB 1475, which limits the public release of arrest photographs under specific circumstances.
