Drone Sighting Halts Panthers-Packers Game
An unauthorized drone caused a temporary suspension of play in the third quarter of Thursday Night Football.
The NFL game between the Carolina Panthers and the Green Bay Packers was temporarily suspended due to the sighting of an unauthorized drone over the stadium. The incident occurred in the third quarter, prompting officials to halt the game and direct players to the sidelines.
The broadcast feed cut to a commercial break during the stoppage, leading to confusion among fans watching and attending the game. Social media users expressed surprise at the unusual interruption, with some jokingly speculating it was a tactic to allow a player to return to the field.
Reports indicated that Panthers wide receiver Christian Watson had been taken to the hospital for precautionary tests on a suspected chest injury earlier in the game. However, it was later revealed he was en route back to the stadium. The drone was eventually cleared from the vicinity, and play resumed.
Following the restart, the Packers were able to continue their drive, with running back Josh Jacobs scoring his second touchdown of the game to extend their lead.
