The driver of an SUV that collided with a Los Angeles Metro bus on Tuesday is set to be arrested on suspicion of murder, according to police. The crash killed two people and critically injured at least six others.

An NBC helicopter that was covering the bus crash subsequently fell from the sky and crashed near the scene. Three individuals aboard the helicopter – NBC reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw, and a pedestrian – died in the aircraft accident. The bus driver was among the fatalities.

The initial collision occurred when the SUV slammed into the eastbound Metro bus on Nordhoff Street, with the SUV becoming embedded in the bus. The driver of the SUV is suspected of reckless driving, running a red light, and driving under the influence, authorities stated.

Emergency responders were on the scene to extricate victims trapped in the wreckage. The circumstances surrounding the helicopter crash are under investigation, though initial reports suggest it went down near the vicinity of the bus collision.
