A civilian who tried to stop a teen gunman in Oregon narrowly escaped death, recounting how his truck was struck by multiple bullets. The driver was the first to report the incident, calling 911 around 1 p.m. Thursday after being fired upon by the 16-year-old assailant.

The shooting occurred at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, resulting in the deaths of three children and a teacher. The driver of a red Toyota Tacoma shared footage of his vehicle, which displayed numerous bullet holes and shattered windows. "Boom boom, through my canopy, shattered out the back window," the driver described in a video of the attack.

He further detailed how a bullet passed through his windshield, narrowly missing his head. "[The bullet] went right through the f–king windshield. Right above my f–king head. Holy s–t," he said, showing at least six large impacts on his truck.

Before law enforcement arrived, the shooter was fatally confronted by a bystander inside the school who shot and killed the 16-year-old, according to police. By the time officers entered the building, the shooter was deceased. In addition to the four fatalities, another student and a teacher sustained critical injuries.
