Driver Expresses Remorse After Child's Death in Sydney Driveway
A man charged with negligent driving occasioning death over the death of a three-year-old girl in a Sydney driveway has broken his silence, stating, 'I'm very sorry.'
Sandip Adhikari, 27, appeared before Burwood Court House in Sydney's west on Wednesday, facing charges following the death of a three-year-old girl who was struck by a car in a driveway on Tuesday. Reporters outside the courthouse heard Adhikari say, "No questions, thanks. Of course I'm very sorry."
Emergency services were called to Normanby Road in Auburn shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday after reports that a child had been hit by a car while playing in a driveway. The girl was transported to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition and later died.
Adhikari, who was uninjured, was taken to Auburn Hospital for mandatory testing before being transported to Auburn Police Station. He was subsequently charged with negligent driving occasioning death.
