Driver Charged with Murder After Causing Fatal LA Bus Crash and NBC Helicopter Accident
A suspect, identified as Bailee Lynn Rios, faces murder charges after allegedly causing a fatal collision with an LA Metro bus, which subsequently contributed to a separate helicopter crash that killed three people.
Bailee Lynn Rios, 36, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, driving under the influence, and reckless driving in connection with a fatal collision that occurred on Tuesday. The incident involved Rios allegedly driving her SUV into an LA Metro bus, resulting in the deaths of two passengers.
New video footage captured moments after the crash shows Rios appearing dazed and bloody inside her vehicle. Witnesses approached her SUV following the violent impact.
According to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Rios was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash, and narcotics were found in her possession.
The bus crash tragically set off a chain of events that led to the crash of an NBC news helicopter nearby. The helicopter incident resulted in the deaths of a reporter, her pilot, and a pedestrian on the ground.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both crashes. Rios remained hospitalized and missed a court date related to the charges.
